Overview

2026 Pilot Research Award - Targeting GBP-1 to Overcome Chemotherapy Resistance and Immune Suppression in Ovarian Cancer

Funder: Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer (SHOC) Foundation

Award Amount: $25,000

Focus Area: Mechanistic and translational research on chemotherapy resistance and immune suppression

Project Description

This pilot award provides catalytic support for mechanistic and translational research examining the role of Guanylate-Binding Protein 1 (GBP-1) in ovarian cancer progression, chemotherapy resistance, and immune suppression. Using complementary murine models and human tumor analyses, this project seeks to define how GBP-1 shapes the tumor microenvironment and to evaluate a first-in-class GBP-1 inhibitor as a potential therapeutic strategy. The award provides key experiments that will strengthen the foundation for future external funding and novel combination therapies.
