The organization stated that its antipoverty programs focused on early childhood education, multigenerational family supports, and workforce development, job training, and placement. Its family stabilization programs focused on access to nutritious food and housing assistance, including rent, mortgage and utility assistance, transitional housing, and emergency shelter. The United Way Roger Hill Volunteer Center worked to help nonprofits develop a volunteer workforce and connect volunteers with service opportunities.

In 2022, the organization gave grants to local organizations whose missions included early childhood education and assistance for children, domestic violence services, affordable housing, emergency shelter, and access to healthy food. For example, Community Children’s Center described its mission as providing education and medical assistance to underprivileged children ages 3–5 in the Lawrence area. The Willow Domestic Violence Center said it builds safer communities through shelter, services, and support for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Just Food described its mission as ending hunger by increasing access to healthy foods and reducing barriers to health and well-being.

The filing also stated that part of the endowment was restricted to supporting public pool swim passes for low-income children during the summer, while the remaining amount was permanently endowed for the United Way mission.
