UMass Chan Medical School announces $35 million donation. How will it useThe Paul J. DiMare Foundation announced a $35 million gift to UMass Chan Medical School to advance research into neurodegenerative and genetic diseases, especially ALS. In recognition of this generous support, a nine-story, 350,000-square-foot research building was named the Paul J. DiMare Center. The center is home to more than 70 principal investigators focused on neurology, neurobiology, neuroscience, psychiatry, molecular medicine, and gene therapy. A naming celebration event was held on July 9, 2025, with more than 100 people in attendance, including UMass President Marty Meehan and members of the DiMare family.
