The Ronald W. Naito MD Foundation is a private independent foundation established in 2019 by Dr. Ron Naito, a Portland-based internist and geriatrician who practiced medicine for 40 years. Based in Portland, Oregon, the foundation continues Dr. Naito's legacy of compassionate healing by supporting nonprofit organizations that strengthen, protect, and transform communities and the planet. The foundation was created after Dr. Naito's diagnosis with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2018, when he committed his entire estate to establishing the organization. He oversaw the foundation through its first grant cycle in 2019 before his death in December of that year.
