The Hummel Family Foundation is a private foundation established in 2015 by Dr. Robert C. Hummel, co-founder of Great Plains Chemical Company/Animal Health International, and his wife Carole. The foundation was created following the sale of their company, guided by a "pay it forward" philosophy focused on higher education. Dr. Hummel, who graduated from Ohio State's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1961, and Carole, who graduated from Ohio State's dental hygiene program in 1958, designed the foundation to provide substantial scholarship opportunities to qualified students who may otherwise be unable to attend university on a full-time basis. Following Dr. Hummel's passing in October 2020, the foundation is now managed by their children, Rob and Jennifer Hummel, alongside Carole.
