Applications may be submitted at any time through the foundation’s online grant application portal. The foundation says applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the process generally takes three to four months from submission to notification. Eligible applicants include charitable organizations meeting IRS 501(c)(3) requirements, churches, and government entities. A coalition must apply through a fiscal sponsor that serves in a policy-setting role and is responsible for project fiscal management and reporting. The foundation says it does not make pass-through grants for another organization unless the organizations have a formal relationship meeting IRS-approved guidelines.
