APPROVAL BY DETECTIVE ASSIGNED TO CASE - IN THE OPINION OF THE DETECTIVE ASSIGNED TO HANDLE THE CASE, THE INFORMATION THAT WAS RECEIVED DID LEAD TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF A PERSON/PERSONS SHOOTING A NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICER.B. THE INFORMATION AND FACTS OF THE CASE MUST BE CONFIRMED AND APPROVED BY THE SQUAD COMMANDER.C. THE INFORMATION AND FACTS OF THE CASE MUST BE CONFIRMED AND APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF DETECTIVES.D. ARREST AND CONVICTION MUST BE MADE BASED ON THE INFORMATION RECEIVED.IN ADDITION, COP SHOT MAY AWARD GRANTS TO THE WIDOW OR WIFE, AS THE CASE MAY BE, AND THE DEPENDANT MINOR CHILD OR CHILDREN OF POLICE OFFICERS SHOT OR KILLED OR PERMANENTLY DISABLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.
