Advance Auto Parts Foundation

The foundation’s stated mission is to “advance careers and communities.” Its focus areas include workforce readiness, support for military veterans, community needs, and education. Workforce support includes post-secondary opportunities and training or upskilling, with an emphasis on preparing people for work in the auto aftermarket. Veteran-focused gifts address career transitions and needs such as housing or mental health resources. Community giving includes health care for underserved populations and support for nonprofits in communities where team members live and work.

The foundation also funds the O. Temple Sloan, Jr. Founder’s Scholarship program, which provides one-time, competitive scholarships to dependents of Advance Auto Parts team members pursuing college or occupational training. The foundation’s website says the program has operated for more than 20 years and has awarded more than $2 million since 2003.

2025 recipients illustrate the range of organizations supported. United Way of the Greater Triangle received $150,000; the organization describes its mission as eradicating poverty and increasing social mobility through partnerships. Stop Soldier Suicide received $101,000; it describes its mission as reducing service member and veteran suicide through data insights, focused client acquisition, and suicide-specific intervention services. Hire Heroes USA received $100,000; it says it empowers military members, veterans, and military spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce. Advance Community Health received $80,000; it describes its mission as delivering quality, compassionate primary health care in response to community needs. Camp Corral received $10,000; it says it provides camp, advocacy, and enrichment programs for children of wounded, ill, and fallen military heroes. Techforce Foundation received $10,000; it describes its mission as supporting students through education and into careers as professional technicians.
