Yukon Community Renewable Energy Projects Grant

The Yukon Community Renewable Energy Projects aim to enhance renewable energy supply and lower diesel usage within the Yukon. Funded by the Government of Yukon, the initiative supports community-driven projects with up to 75% funding for eligible costs, capped at $500,000. Eligible applicants include municipal and First Nation governments, development corporations, community societies, and Yukon-based businesses. Projects must generate energy using proven renewable technologies.

The Yukon Development Corporation is helping to increase the supply of renewable energy and reduce diesel consumption in the Yukon. The Innovative Renewable Energy Initiative provides funding for community-led renewable energy projects
Funding
75% of eligible expenses to a maximum of $500,000 per project. Applicants must cover the remaining 25 per cent of expenses, which can include:
own-source funds;third-party contributions; orin-kind contributions (up to 10 per cent of the applicant’s share).

Eligibility

Applicants:Municipal governments. First Nation governments. First Nation development corporations. Community societies or associations. Yukon-based businesses.Your project must generate electrical or heat energy and be based in Yukon. It must also use proven technology from renewable sources such as:wind turbines; solar thermal collectors; geothermal; or demand-side managementEligibility and application to the fund does not guarantee acceptance.
