Funder: BIHAR-JHARKHAND ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICA INC (BJANA)

Overview: BJANA awards scholarships to high-achieving students from the Bihar and Jharkhand community based on standardized test scores (SAT and ACT). Awards include certificates and cash prizes presented at the annual Holi event.

Award Details

SAT Scholarships:

  • 1st Prize: $500 (sponsored by family of Drs. Chitra Kumar & Arvind Kumar)

  • 1st Prize: $500 (sponsored by family of Mrs. Anjali Akhaury & Mr. Rajiv Akhaury in memory of late Dr. Ranjan Akhaury)

  • 1st Prize: Award amount unspecified (sponsored by BJANA family of Chitra and Manish Varma in memory of Late Sanjay Prakash)

  • 2nd Prize: $300 (sponsored by BJANA family of Madhulika, Rajesh, Dr. Malya & Rauhin Sahu in memory of Late Sri. Ram Kumar Sahu of Ranchi, Jharkhand)
  • ACT Scholarships:

  • $250 for highest ACT score (sponsored by BJANA family of Mrs. Vigya Singh & Mr. Sanjeet Singh in memory of late Smt. Babli Rani Singh)
    • Eligibility

    • Student must be of Bihar or Jharkhand origin
    • Student must be expected to attend college in Fall 2024
    • Applicant must be present at the BJANA Holi Event to receive the award
    • In case of a tie, the candidate with the highest school GPA will be selected as the winner

    Application Process

    Required Materials

    Applicants must submit the following information via email:

    1. Personal Information:
    - Name, address, email, and phone number of the candidate
    - Name, address, email, and phone number of parents

    2. Educational Information:
    - Name of high school
    - Name of college expected to join (if available)
    - Proof of class of 2024

    3. Test Scores:
    - Scanned copy of qualifying SAT score or ACT score

    4. Academic Performance:
    - School GPA (used as tiebreaker)
