Youth Philanthropy Council Grant Program

The Youth Philanthropy Council Grant Program, established by the Northern New York Community Foundation, empowers youth by engaging them in philanthropy and community development. With a funding capability of up to $25,000, it supports projects that enhance community life across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations or those partnering with such sponsors. This initiative fosters critical thinking and real-world skills among student delegates from various high schools.

The Youth Philanthropy Council is an advisory committee of the Northern New York Community Foundation. It was chartered in 2010 to promote positive youth development and engage young people in meaningful activities that build their skills while deepening their understanding of community needs and educating them about community philanthropy and its impact on Northern New York. Council members grow to become critical thinkers as they engage in lessons that may never be taught in a classroom. This year’s Youth Philanthropy Council includes 17 student delegates, representing Carthage, General Brown, Immaculate Heart Central, Lyme, South Jefferson, and Watertown high schools.

Eligibility

Nonprofits must have a confirmed charitable status as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization through the Internal Revenue Service or partner with an eligible fiscal sponsor.
