Program Details:
Powder River Energy Corporation co-sponsors local high school students to attend the "Youth Leadership Camp" in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

When: July 11-16, 2026

Application Deadline: January 16, 2026

What's Included:
The week is completely funded, including:

Transportation

Room and board

All activities and meals

Program Highlights:

Leadership skills development

Tours of industry sites including:

- Craig Station (largest coal-fired electric generating plant in Colorado)
- Trapper Coal Mine
- Solar farm

Educational component on how cooperatives work and electric energy industry

Recreation activities:

- Gondola ride up Mt. Werner at Steamboat Ski Resort
- Fish Creek Falls hiking trip
- Various Steamboat Springs attractions
- Cabin accommodations, hot springs pools, barbecues, dances with 100+ attendees

Eligibility:

Must be enrolled in high school

Parent/guardian must have an account with Powder River Energy Corporation

Service territory: Sheridan, Johnson, Weston, Campbell, and Crook counties

Post-Camp Opportunities:

Attendees can qualify for the National Washington DC tour with 2,000+ students from across the U.S.

Many alumni have received scholarships, speaking engagements, and national recognition
