Overview

Youth for Environmental Leadership & Learning (YELL!) Fellowship

Overview: YELL! is a paid fellowship program for young people interested in social justice and environmental protection. The program empowers youth of color to make a difference in their communities through learning and hands-on community projects.

Geographic Scope: Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota

Eligibility:

  • Ages 18-25 years old

  • Youth of color strongly encouraged to apply

  • Interest in social justice and protecting the environment

  • Care about their community

  • Want to learn how to protect the environment

  • Want to help change the world
  • Program Details:

  • Number of Positions: 5 paid fellowship opportunities per year

  • Duration: 9 months (August-April)

  • Time Commitment: Minimum 20 hours per month

  • - Two 4-hour workshops per month (8 hours)
    - Monthly community project work (12 hours)
  • Mentorship: Fellows matched with mentors in their issue area

  • Stipend: $500 per month for each fellow

  • Certificate: Awarded upon program completion

  • Community Celebration: Held at end of program

  • What Fellows Learn:

  • How pollution affects communities and solutions

  • Skills for talking with legislators
