Young Investigator Grants

The Young Investigator Grants, offered by the Breast Cancer Alliance, aim to support early-career researchers focused on breast cancer. This two-year grant provides up to $125,000 in funding, split across the duration, to facilitate independent research projects. Applicants must be affiliated with U.S. institutions and should not have held major grant support previously. This initiative fosters innovation in breast cancer research, ultimately enhancing survival rates and quality of life for affected individuals.

To promote these goals, we invest in innovative research, breast surgery fellowships, education, dignified regional support and screening for the underserved.
Breast Cancer Alliance raises money to provide four types of annual grants:

• Exceptional Project ResearchYoung Investigator ResearchBreast Surgery FellowshipsScreening and Diagnostics Grants
• Young Investigator Grants

This grant is intended to help advance the careers of young researchers who do not yet have their own major grant support but who design and conduct their own independent research projects.
The grant provides salary support and project costs for a total of $125,000 (distributed over the two-year period.) Indirect costs, which are included in the $125,000 award, must be limited to 8% of total direct costs.

Eligibility

This grant is open to applicants at institutions in the contiguous United States. Applicants for the award must:not have held a tenure track faculty or tenure track research position for more than four years following completion of their training, at the start date of the grant; not have been or are not a principal investigator on an NIH R01 or equivalent national/international non-mentored award as of the start date of the grant; anddedicate at least 50% of their work effort to research. You may only submit an LOI for each proposal for either an Exceptional Project Grant or a Young Investigator Grant. It is your choice as to which application best suits your experience.You do not have to be a US citizen to apply, but you must be affiliated with a US institution at which the grant project will be carried out.
