You Could Teach Scholarship

You Could Teach is a scholarship fund for 'Career Changers' who want to become certified teachers for any grade K-12 in any public or private school setting. The fund was established to encourage individuals to make a career change into education, assist with the financial obligation of tuition and fees, and partner with higher education organizations to become a resource for those seeking a teaching career.

The fund was created by Jeff Yaw, a retired special education teacher and his wife Nita, who had a 31 year career as a school nurse. Jeff taught for a few years after college, then left the education field for 18 years, only to return to the classroom in his mid-40's, spending the next 15 years teaching at the junior high level. "Going back into education later in life was the best career choice I ever made. I had a personally fulfilling role and a balanced lifestyle. Every day I spent in the classroom was better than any day I had in the corporate world. I want to encourage others who have ever considered teaching to make that jump and become a classroom teacher".
