Wyatt Weisel Olympic Track Hardship Grant

Overview: Designed to offset daily living and training expenses for athletes in USA Cycling's Olympic Track National Team Program.

Award Details:

  • Up to $3,750 per quarter

  • Maximum $15,000 per year

  • Awarded quarterly basis

    • Eligibility:

  • Available to men and women in USA Cycling National Team Programs (track Olympic events)

  • Must have participated in USA Cycling National Team Program activity (training camp or competition) in last 12 months

  • NOT eligible: Athletes receiving Gold Level Direct Athlete Support

  • NOT eligible: Athletes with World Tour or Women's World Tour contracts

  • Must adhere to grant commitment criteria from previous quarter (if applicable)

    • Required Grant Commitments:

  • Complete ACH and W-9 form

  • Use TrainingPeaks to upload and share all training data with Sport Performance team

  • Create and adhere to Individual Performance Plan (IPP) with Sport Performance team, reviewed minimum quarterly

  • IPP must include personal coach (if applicable) and other personal network members (nutritionist, S&C coach, etc.)

  • Attend all USA Cycling-invited activities

  • Prior written approval from Chief of Sports Performance if unable to attend

  • Written notification from Chief Medical Officer if injured/ill

    • Application Deadlines & Notification Dates:

  • Q1: Due March 15, 2026 | Notification April 5, 2026

  • Q2: Due June 15, 2026 | Notification July 5, 2026

  • Q3: Due September 15, 2026 | Notification October 5, 2026

  • Q4: Due December 15, 2026 | Notification January 5, 2027

    • Review Process:

  • Three-person panel: USA Cycling Foundation, Sport Performance team, third USA Cycling staff member

  • Grants not guaranteed; issued based on fund availability each quarter

  • Maximum one grant per quarter per athlete

  • Grants paid within 14 days of quarter start

    • Background: Memorial fund honoring Wyatt Weisel (1965-2017), accomplished bike racer and 2008 Masters Team Pursuit National Champion who served as Chairman of the Northern California Cycling Foundation.
