Overview:
A playwriting workshop and program for people living with HIV, designed to support writers in finding their unique voice as they navigate their serostatus.

Eligibility:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be living with HIV

  • All experience levels welcome
  • What's Included:

  • 10-week virtual workshop program

  • Twice-weekly workshops via Zoom

  • Community building with people of similar lived experience

  • Optional virtual sharing of work with professional actors and directors

  • World AIDS Day showcase (December 1st)

  • Submit brief bio and short writing sample

  • Applications submitted to National Queer Theater
  • Background: Created by playwright Donja R. Love (2008 HIV diagnosis survivor) to center voices of people living with HIV, particularly Black, Queer, and HIV-positive individuals in theater.

    2. Submit to:
    - National Queer Theater (nationalqueertheater.org)

    3. Timeline (2020 inaugural year):
    - Applications open: August 1st
    - Deadline: August 31st before midnight EST
    - Program start: September 29th
    - Workshop schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00pm - 6:00pm EST
    - Program end: November 19th
    - Final sharing: December 1st (World AIDS Day)
