    The Women's Giving Circle provides grant funding to support comprehensive learning experiences and professional development initiatives for CASA volunteers and related child welfare professionals. The grant has enabled CASA of Jefferson County to conduct specialized training on trauma's impact on children in foster care.

    Example Use:
    The grant funded a three-session training program led by Stacey M. Cornett, LISW-S, IMH-E (Certified Trauma Competent professional, PMH-C, and certified in Phase 1 of the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics). Training topics included:

  • Overview of Relational Trauma for Adults Helping Children in the Foster Care System

  • Neurobiology of Trauma: What Caregivers Need to Know

  • Interventions Supporting Children in Foster Care
  • The training served 15 active Court Appointed Special Advocates and Department of Child Services (DCS) professionals.
