WIOA Training Scholarships
Program Name: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Individual Training Accounts (ITAs)
Geographic Scope: Region VI Workforce Development Board covering:
Award Amount: Non-repayable scholarship up to $12,000 and/or transportation supportive services up to $25/week
- Must be eligible and appropriate participants as determined by a career planner
- Must be unlikely or unable to obtain or retain employment that leads to self-sufficiency or higher wages from previous employment through career services alone
- Individual assessment required covering: job readiness, employment and training needs, financial/social/supportive needs, labor market demand, and potential for successful completion
- Must have a documented Individual Employment Plan (IEP)
Eligibility
- Funding Source: 100% federally funded through WIOA by U.S. Department of Labor (total grants: $2,462,559.00)
- ITAs are limited in cost and duration
- Training must result in employment leading to economic self-sufficiency or wages comparable to or higher than previous employment
- Participants choose training from Region VI Eligible Training Providers in consultation with career planners
- ITAs are not entitlements and are contingent upon availability of funding from the US DOL
- Available for demand occupations

Participants should:
1. Contact your regional career planner for the counties listed above
2. Undergo career planning and assessment to determine eligibility and appropriateness
3. Complete individual assessment documenting:
- Job readiness
- Employment and training needs
- Financial, social, and supportive needs
- Labor market demand analysis
- Potential for successful completion
4. Develop Individual Employment Plan (IEP) with your career planner
5. Select training provider from Region VI Eligible Training Providers in consultation with your career planner
6. Receive ITA award contingent on funding availability
