Welcome to Wikimedia Foundation Funds! The Wikimedia Foundation supports individuals and organizations around the world to increase the diversity, reach, quality, and quantity of free knowledge. We promote knowledge equity aligned with the strategic direction of the Wikimedia movement. Our funding programs are focused on decentralized decision-making, regional committees, and reaching underrepresented communities. Our people-centred approach is built on the principles of equity & empowerment, collaboration & cooperation, and the promotion of innovation and learning Mission Statement The mission of the Wikimedia Foundation is to empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally. Wikimedia Foundation: Conference & Event Fund The Conference and Event Fund gives funding and planning support to organise local or regional conferences. These events bring Wikimedians together for experience sharing, skill-building, and networking. National conferences may be funded through the Conference Fund only if the applicant group or organization does not receive a General Support Fund or if the country’s size/diversity (e.g, Nigeria) justifies additional support. We will currently only consider proposals for the big Regional events based on the 8 identified regions and on a yearly basis. We might consider global Thematic events as well (such as the EduWiki conference, Global GLAM conference) in a cadence of every 2 to 3 years, but this will be on a case by case basis (see here for more details). Youth Safety Youth Safety Policy must be in place for any activity that involves underage community members. However, please note that scholarship recipients MUST be over the age of 18 at the time of application If the proposal indicates direct contact with children or youth, it also outlines compliance with international and local laws for working with children and youth, and provides documentation of the local laws in the annex. The proposal demonstrates how they will ensure the safe engagement of young people in all of the project’s activities. The proposal demonstrates that any adults who will be working in close contact with young people have been properly vetted and trained. The proposal outlines an action protocol in the case that incidents occur relating to the physical and psychological safety of young people. Note: For grants under 5,000 USD, please see the Rapid Fund program.Eligibility
