The Community Foundation of Abilene is home to more than 150 scholarship funds established by individuals, organizations, and companies to help students from our community and the surrounding area pursue their college education dreams. The Foundation’s scholarship process provides students access to scholarships with awards ranging from $500 to more than $5,000. West Texas Hereford Association – Curly Hays Scholarship Fund The West Texas Hereford Association Scholarship was set up in memory of Curly Hays. Curly was the farm and ranch representative for West Texas Utilities. His work with 4-H, stock shows, and local football touched many young lives. Scholarship award payments are sent directly to the educational institutions in August (fall semester) and, if applicable, in January (spring semester).
