Overview
The Wendell G. Mohling Foundation awards one $2,000 scholarship each year to a Kansas science teacher to attend a National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) conference of the winner's choosing. The award is used during the school year in which it is given.
The scholarship honors Dr. Wendell G. Wendell knew the professional value of attending conventions and the financial burden they place on teachers.
Applications are due September 24 each year. The 2026 deadline has passed; the foundation has confirmed the next cycle runs on the same terms, with applications due September 24, 2027.

Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Currently teach science in a Kansas school, grades K-12, with at least 2 academic years of science teaching.
- Provide a letter of support from their superintendent or principal with the application.
- Provide receipts to the foundation documenting expenses at the conference.
- Join or renew their Kansas Association of Teachers of Science (KATS) membership for the year; the foundation reimburses the cost.
Ineligibility
Teachers who have previously won a Wendell G. Mohling Foundation award are not eligible.

Apply online through the foundation's Google Form (https://forms.gle/TzVdg9gdP1LonQEdA), or download the application from the foundation's website, print it and mail it to P.O. Box 345, Kechi, Kansas 67067. A letter of support from the applicant's superintendent or principal must accompany the application. Applications are due September 24.
