About Us From preservice teachers who are studying to enter the profession to retired educators who still work through the union to support colleagues in the classrooms, lunchrooms and college lecture halls, Education Minnesota spans generations in academic settings. Who we are Education Minnesota is the leading advocate for public education in Minnesota. Our 84,000-plus members work in pre-K-12 schools and higher education institutions statewide. How we work A union is not an outside organization or a third party: it is a democratic organization run by its members who make decisions and set direction on their own behalf. We Are One Solidarity Award The We Are One Solidarity Award is given annually to an Education Minnesota local union or group of active members demonstrating outstanding or significant leadership in any of the following ways: Developing and implementing an organizing campaign.Expanding relationships with other unions and the AFL-CIO. Developing and implementing a member engagement campaign. Working collectively for the common good. Protecting or advocating for workers’ rights. Extending the benefits of a union by organizing the unorganized. The We Are One Solidarity Award winner will be announced at the Education Minnesota Representative Convention.

Eligibility

Any Education Minnesota member can nominate a local union or active member by submitting a nomination form to the Education Minnesota president.If multiple submissions for the same nominee are received, only the first or most complete application will be considered by the Education Minnesota Executive Committee.Using the established criteria, the nomination form should list the name of the Education Minnesota local union or active member and the reason(s) the candidate should be considered for the award.The following criteria will be considered: Has made outstanding or significant leadership in any of the following ways:Developing and implementing an organizing campaign. Expanding relationships with other unions and the AFL-CIO. Developing and implementing a member engagement campaign. Working collectively for the common good. Protecting or advocating for workers’ rights. Extending the benefits of a union by organizing the unorganized. If nominating a group other than a local, the group members must be active Education Minnesota members during the selection school year. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. If nominating a group other than a local, the group members must be active Education Minnesota members during the selection school year.
