WDMSA Nursing Scholarship Fund - BSN

Purpose: To award scholarship(s) to BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) students based on scholastic achievement, essay quality, health-related community service, and application completion.

Award Details:

• Number and amounts evaluated each year based on available funds through donations and fundraising
• Award applied towards tuition and payable to recipient's nursing program
• Awarded annually at WDMS Fall District Meeting

Geographic Scope: Worcester County, Massachusetts

Eligibility Requirements:

• Legal resident of Worcester County prior to enrollment in nursing program
• Completed at least one year of an accredited 4-year BSN undergraduate program
• OR attending a post-baccalaureate BSN or RN-to-BSN program
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (high academic standing)
• Demonstrates involvement in health-related community service

Selection Criteria:

• Scholastic achievement and academic performance
• Quality and originality of essay
• Health-related community service involvement
• Application completeness

Application Process

Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by October 15th

Required Materials:

1. Completed application form
2. One letter of recommendation from an instructor or professor in the nursing program in which applicant is currently enrolled
3. Essay (required)
4. Official sealed transcript from current nursing program

Essay Requirements:

• Describe applicant's original and personal expression of reasons for selecting a career in nursing
• Explain what applicant foresees as their contribution to the future of the nursing profession
• Use of AI is prohibited in writing essay due to concerns about authenticity, ethics, fairness, and bias
• Grammar and spellcheck tools are allowed
• Applicant remains solely responsible for ensuring originality and integrity of essay
