Overview: Established in 2007, the Wayne & Kit Danley Scholarship serves as a stepping stone for first-generation college students, many of whom have been nurtured through Neighborhood Ministries' programs from a young age.

Purpose: The scholarship does far more than offer financial support; it provides a framework of accountability and mentorship that guides promising young people toward achieving their collegiate and life ambitions.

Geographic Scope

• Phoenix, Arizona and surrounding areas
• Supports both in-state and out-of-state tuition

Eligibility

• First-generation college students
• Preference for youth who have participated in Neighborhood Ministries programs

• Higher education (college and university attendance)
• Academic success and career preparation
• Breaking the cycle of poverty

Program Impact (as of 2023)

• $760,000 awarded in scholarships since 2007
• 46 recipients have been awarded scholarships
• 22 students have graduated
• Graduates have earned degrees in: Human Development, Business Administration, Nursing, Psychology, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Communications, Family Studies, Education, and Spanish

Endowment Goal

• Overall goal: $1 million endowment
• $500,000 matching pledge committed
• Goal to raise $300,000 by end of 2023 (as of page publication)
