Washington Federal Foundation: Community Impact Grants

The Washington Federal Foundation offers Community Impact Grants to support nonprofits serving low- and moderate-income populations. Focus areas include sustainable housing, economic development for small businesses, community revitalization, and job training programs. Eligible organizations must operate for at least 12 months and primarily serve LMI communities near a WaFd Bank branch. Note that funding is not available for medical endeavors, animal welfare, or arts projects unless they directly benefit LMI populations.

WaFd Bank Foundation
The WaFd Bank Foundation's purpose is to facilitate direct giving to community-based nonprofits that primarily serve the needs of people with low- and-moderate incomes.
Community Impact Grants:
Permanent, affordable, and sustainable housing: Creation of individual and multi-family housing for LMI populations.Economic development: Programs that promote economic development for businesses (primarily small business) that target LMI geo areas, size eligibility and gross revenue of $1million or less. Preference is given to businesses owned by women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, minority and immigrant individuals.Community revitalization: Programs that stabilize and recover communities by attracting or retaining jobs, businesses, and homes.Job development: Apprenticeships, job training and employment education programs that enable communities to revitalize their workforce and attract businesses that provide living wages.

Eligibility

To be eligible your organization must:Be a valid nonprofit organization operating for at least 12 calendar monthsPrimarily service low- and moderate-income communities or populationsBe located near a WaFd Bank branch

Ineligibility

Due to limited funding and giving guidelines, we do not fund the following categories:Medical endeavors: Fundraisers, research, treatment, uncompensated care and medical related eventsAnimal welfare: Animal shelters, humane societies, treatment, care, etc.The Arts: Museums, theaters, opera, ballet, dance, festivals, concerts, showings, etc. unless directly tied to training or employment for LMI populationsOther: Fundraisers, events, sponsorshipsWaFd Bank operates in a 9-state footprint.  Unfortunately, organizations outside of our banking footprint are unable to apply.
