Geographic Scope: 27-county service area in central Pennsylvania

Program Details:

• Scales access to SNAP among eligible households with particular emphasis on seniors
• Addresses fact that more than 15% of Americans eligible for SNAP do not receive benefits
• Seniors disproportionately affected: 58% of eligible seniors not enrolled in SNAP
• SNAP reduces health care costs and improves food security
• Enables purchase of healthier foods and frees household resources for preventative services and medical care

Implementation:

• Food Bank team of SNAP experts provides assistance
• Help individuals determine eligibility for SNAP benefits
• Assist in application process
• Bi-lingual Food Stamps Helpline: 1-877-999-5964

Walmart Support:

• Provides donations of both food and funds to Feeding America network of 200 food banks nationwide
• Annual "Fight Hunger, Spark Change" campaign
• Walmart and Sam's Club stores donated over 4 million pounds of food to Food Bank (equates to 3.6 million meals)
