Western History Association The Western History Association strives to be a congenial home for the study and teaching of all aspects of North American Wests, frontiers, homelands, and borderlands. Our mission is to cultivate the broadest appreciation of this diverse history. To accomplish this mission we: Enable collaborations among peoples, institutions, and organizations devoted to the study of western history. Conduct an annual conference at which western history teachers, scholars, and professionals share their research and exchange ideas that facilitate further study of the North American West. Publish an award-winning journal that employs rigorous peer reviews to identify, improve, and distribute original western history scholarship.Promote public education on western history through active involvement with teachers, museums, non profit organizations, libraries, and other venues. W. Turrentine Jackson Award The winner of the $1,000 award will be announced during the Western History Association's annual conference.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Presses may submit more than one book.All submissions must have a copyright date in the previous calendar year. Presses should submit nominations and a copy of the book to each member of the award committee. While the formal process requires presses/journals to submit the work of their authors, the WHA strongly recommends that authors check with the award committee chair a week before the deadline to see if they received a copy of their work.

This is not an award for individuals who have already published a book.
