US SENATOR CHRIS VAN HOLLEN'S FALL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Funder: Office of US Senator Chris Van Hollen

Purpose: Provide unique educational and professional development opportunities for students in Senator Van Hollen's Capitol Hill, Rockville and Baltimore offices.

Award: Paid internship position

    Program Details

    Internships are available in three locations:
  • Capitol Hill
  • Rockville office
  • Baltimore office

Primary Responsibilities

Capitol Hill:

  • Supporting constituent correspondence by mail and phone

  • Attending hearings and briefings

  • Researching legislation and policy initiatives

  • Composing press releases

  • Compiling media clips

  • Drafting memos for staff and the Senator

    • Rockville/Baltimore:

  • Assisting with phone calls

  • Supporting constituent casework

  • Drafting correspondence to constituents and federal agencies

  • Drafting memoranda for staff and the Senator

  • Attending community events, meetings, and briefings

      • Eligibility Requirements

    • High school junior or above
    • Able to work minimum of 20 hours/week for Rockville or Baltimore office
    • Able to work minimum of 24 hours/week for Capitol Hill office
    • Fall Session: August 30 – January 14
