Overview

Urology Care Foundation Bridge Award The Urology Care Foundation Bridge Award, supported by Dornier MedTech, is the AUA’s new initiative to support established urology researchers navigating critical financial shortages. Its goal is simple but impactful: sustain urologic projects that are at risk due to gaps between major grants, required post-peer review revisions, or unexpected laboratory setbacks. Each year, two investigators will receive up to $60,000 in support over a 12-month period. The funding is unrestricted (aside from indirect costs, travel and registration/membership fees) and intentionally flexible—available to cover whatever researchers need to keep their projects going. Applicants must be independently managing their research projects, even if based within a larger laboratory. Early career investigators are eligible only if they are no longer under formal mentorship, such as transitioning to an R-level award. This ensures the funds go to those who are actively involved in sustained, independent research but need a timely boost to stay competitive.
