University Scholarship Fund

Hope Alive! created this fund to support exceptional students in pursuing bachelor's degrees in Uganda after completing their associate's degree through the organization's standard sponsorship program.

Background: Over 20 years, more than 200 Hope Alive! students have earned the Ugandan equivalent to an associate's degree. Each year, a few students stand out for their academic ability, drive, and passion to continue their education. While Hope Alive! commits to funding associate's degrees through $48 monthly sponsorships, bachelor's degrees require additional support that individual sponsors often cannot afford.

Geographic Scope: Uganda

Award Amount: Approximately $6,000 per student, covering tuition, fees, living expenses, and supplies for a bachelor's degree program.

• Higher education for exceptional students

• Support for students transitioning from associate's to bachelor's programs

How It Works: The fund pools smaller contributions from supporters to send carefully selected outstanding students to university. In addition to tuition support, recipients may receive laptops to aid in academic work.

• Must have completed associate's degree or equivalent
• Outstanding academic ability, drive, and passion for continued education
• Carefully selected by Hope Alive! staff

Application Process

No formal application process is described for external applicants. The University Scholarship Fund operates as follows:

• Student Selection: Hope Alive! staff identify and carefully select exceptional students from their existing enrollment who demonstrate outstanding academic ability, drive, and passion for continued education.
• Sponsor Notification: In the past, Hope Alive! staff approached individual sponsors of selected students to request additional contributions for their bachelor's degree.
• Contribution Method: Supporters can contribute to the fund through Hope Alive!'s website by clicking the link on the University Scholarship Fund project page.
• Fund Pooling: Individual contributions are pooled together to support selected students' university education.
