Overview

About The Union City Community Foundation The generosity of one man, LaRue Ottaway, was essential in the foundation of The Union City Community Foundation. Ottaway established one of the largest endowments within the Union City Community Foundation during his tenure at the former Union City Chair Company. He originally donated his gift to the Union City Hospital, known today as the AHN Outpatient Center. This donation established The Union City Community Foundation in 2003. The Foundation became affiliated with The Erie Community Foundation in 2006. Today, the Ottaway/Saint Vincent Health Center Fund supports the health center and various initiatives in and around the Union City area. This fund is currently valued at over $1.5 million. Since 2006, it has awarded more than 200 grants and scholarships totaling more than $800,000. The good work of The Union City Community Foundation is only made possible through the foresight and generosity of our donors. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for Union City residents by evaluating and addressing community issues, building permanent charitable endowments, and promoting philanthropic and community leadership. We are dedicated to strengthening the capacity of local organizations to increase their ability to benefit the community and support charities whose projects benefit the Union City community in sustainable ways.
