UNCG Design Assistance

Funder: UNC Greensboro's Center for Community-Engaged Design (in partnership with NC Main Street Program)

Geographic Scope: Brevard, NC (through North Carolina Main Street Program designated communities)

Purpose: Provide design assistance on revitalization projects through placement of undergraduate and graduate interior architecture students ("Fellows") in designated small towns across North Carolina.

    Services Provided

    Fellows provide design assistance on a variety of revitalization projects including:
  • Storefront façade rehabilitation
  • Adaptive reuse of upper-story spaces (such as converting them into residential units)
  • Archival research using historic photographs and maps
  • Field documentation with schematic design proposals
