UH Professor Misawa-Honjo International Fellowship

Overview: Encourages Shidler students to study abroad at Japanese universities. This fellowship is named after Prof. Misawa and sponsored by the Honjo Foundation, Japan (Ito En, Ltd. Japan).

Geographic Scope: Japan (students may select any university in Japan)

Key Details:

  • Annual Award: $30,000 distributed among four recipients at $7,500 each

  • History: Since 2007, the fellowship has provided $420,000 to 52 UH students (as of 2020)

  • Credits: Credits earned at Japanese universities transfer towards student's degree at UH

  • Past Partner Universities: Waseda, Keio, Hitotsubashi, Sophia, Oberlin, and Ritsumeikan

  • 2020 marked the 14th year of this fellowship
  • Eligibility: Shidler College of Business students
