UFCW Local 881 Charitable Foundation Scholarship

Geographic Scope: Illinois and Northwest Indiana

Award Amounts: $1,000 to $4,000 one-time cash awards for study beginning in the Fall of the awarded year

Eligibility

• Members: Current members of Local 881 UFCW
• Dependents: Dependent children of Local 881 members
• No age restrictions mentioned

Selection Criteria

Winners are selected based on:

• Academic achievement
• Career goals
• Leadership
• Demonstrated understanding of the value of Union Membership
• Extracurricular activities
• Community service
• Written essay demonstrating knowledge of a labor-related topic

Review Process

Local 881 maintains a completely independent review process with judges from outside the organization, including labor leaders, educators, civic leaders, and public officials.

Application Requirements

All applications must include:

1. Completed application form
2. Written essay (topic to be described in application materials)
3. Official transcripts from high school and college (if applicable)
   • Must include GPA with explanation of scale (e.g., 4.0 or 5.0 scale)
   • If high school graduate prior to 2021, diploma copy acceptable if transcripts unavailable
   • Failure to include complete transcripts removes application from consideration

Submission

Deadline: Application must be postmarked on or before February 28, 2027 OR submitted online by 5:00 PM CST on February 28, 2027

Important: Applications postmarked after the deadline will not be considered. All application sections must be completed.
