Overview

TUFSOB Scholarship

Overview: The TUFSOB (Truckers United Fraternity Super Offspring of the Boss) scholarship program provides financial support towards furthering the educational goals of trucking's next generation and the industry's future leaders.

Background: Created by CTA members at the 1992 Annual Membership Conference at the Hotel de Coronado in San Diego. The program was conceived by Bud Wallace (Cascade Drayage & Warehousing, Inc.), Joe Nievez (Quikway Trucking Company), Connie Garcin (Garcin & Associates), and Bob Crites (Condor Freight Lines, Inc.).

Cumulative Impact: Has paid over $400,000 in scholarships to over 500 CTA members' children and adults.

    Eligibility

  • Nominators: Allied/carrier members and CTA staff members can nominate students
  • Geographic Scope: California (CTA members' children and sponsored individuals)
  • Applicants:
  • - High school graduates entering college - Those continuing college education - Trade school students - Adults wishing to attend colleges sponsored by a CTA member company - Anyone that supports the trucking industry, as long as sponsored by a CTA member company
