Traveling Fellowship

Geographic Scope: Orthopaedic surgeons currently practicing in the U.S. or Canada
Program Overview:
The Traveling Fellowship is an educational opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons to tour and observe sports medicine practices internationally. The 2026 tour is tentatively scheduled to begin in April 2026 and will travel throughout Europe.
- Must be an orthopaedic surgeon currently practicing in the U.S. or Canada
- Must be 45 years of age or younger at the time of the traveling fellowship tour
- Must be board certified
- Must be an AOSSM member
- Exclusion: Individuals currently in a sports medicine fellowship should not apply

1. Two letters of recommendation: - One from an orthopaedic surgeon involved in your Sports Medicine Fellowship - One from an orthopaedic surgeon familiar with your current practice 2. Recent headshot 3. Personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) highlighting: - Your contributions to sports medicine in your local community/institution - Your contributions to AOSSM - Why you want to be a Traveling Fellow - What you hope to achieve from the Fellowship 4. Application Process
1. Complete the online application form
2. Provide two letters of recommendation:
- One from an orthopaedic surgeon involved in your Sports Medicine Fellowship
- One from an orthopaedic surgeon familiar with your current practice
