Transforming Safety Initiative Community Grants Program

Geographic Scope: Southeast Colorado Springs, serving El Paso and Teller Counties

Background: The bill reinvests $4 million annually in savings from parole reforms to create a three-year pilot program. Pikes Peak Community Foundation was selected to facilitate the local planning process and manage the grant program for Southeast Colorado Springs.

Funding Focus:

• Reduce crime and prevent recidivism
• Support adults and youth who are or have been involved in the criminal justice system
• Improve community-based supports to reduce violence and neglect in families
• Help youth (up to age 25) develop skills and resilience to avoid high-risk behaviors leading to criminal justice involvement
• Address systemic causes of economic, racial, and academic disparities

Current Status: Not currently accepting applications

Eligibility:

• Must be a qualified 501(c)3 nonprofit, school, or religious institution
• Must serve Southeast Colorado Springs as defined by the Local Planning Team
• Must serve El Paso or Teller Counties
• Highly competitive funding with specific criteria
