Trans Justice Funding Project Grants

The Trans Justice Funding Project (TJFP) provides grants to grassroots trans-led organizations in the U.S. and territories, focusing on those with budgets under $250,000. TJFP supports initiatives that address varying needs within trans communities, including health, legal aid, and mutual aid projects. The organization prioritizes groups led by trans people of color and emphasizes the importance of centering marginalized voices in the fight for trans justice.

What We Fund
We fund grassroots trans-led groups organizing and fighting for trans justice in the U.S. and U.S. Territories.
For TJFP, this work can look a lot of different ways and it’s important that the trans communities name what is needed for their local community–whatever that may look like.
We fund groups for and by the trans communities.
TJFP grantees are organizing online community organizing trainings and support groups, providing guidance on trans health and wellness, or legal support for undocumented communities. TJFP grantees are putting together mutual aid projects, clothing and food pantries, organizing film and art festivals while changing culture, they’re providing spaces for healing and housing, organizing carpools to and from doctor appointments and bail funds, or one time direct actions, and so much more! We fund groups and projects that are well established or newly forming.
Some groups that we fund have more of a formal structure with a 501c3 or fiscal sponsorship. And over half of the groups we fund each year are not incorporated and do not have nonprofit status or a fiscal sponsor.

Eligibility

TJFP funds grassroots, trans justice groups run by and for trans people with a total budget of less than $250,000 located in the United States or a U.S. territory, centering the leadership of trans people organizing around their experiences with racism, economic injustice, transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, incarceration, and other intersecting oppressions.If you are a group with a fiscal sponsor, your own group’s budget must be less than $250,000. It does not matter what your fiscal sponsor’s budget is.

Ineligibility

Please remember that a program is not a group. If your program budget is less than $250,000, but your group’s total budget is more than $250,000, you are not eligible.We do not fund programs at larger organizations. We fund independent trans-led groups
