International Society for Environmental Epidemiology Our Vision We are a scientific association in environmental epidemiology that impacts research, training and policy worldwide. Our Mission To foster epidemiological studies on the effects of environmental exposures in people, stimulate communication between health professionals, promote methodological advances, and strengthen environmental health policy. Tony McMichael Mid-Term Award This award was created in Dr. Tony McMichael's memory to recognize mid-career scientists. Tony was a world renowned epidemiologist known not only for his scientific work, but also for his compassionate mentoring of junior colleagues. He was President of ISEE from 2008-2009. The award will be given to candidates that possess the same qualities as Dr. McMichael: Demonstrated excellence in environmental epidemiology researchExcelled in innovation, such as promoting novel areas of research, initiating novel studies or developing novel methodology for environmental epidemiologyDemonstrated capabilities for mentoring graduate and postgraduate students and/or contributed to teaching environmental epidemiologyContributed to guidelines, public debates or dissemination of scientific results in environmental epidemiologyDemonstrated practice of environmental epidemiology, such as community engagement, impact on the field of environmental epidemiology or translation into environmental health policyContributed meaningfully to the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology The recipient of this award will receive subsidized registration, airfare, and hotel costs for the annual conference using a fund established in Tony McMichael’s name. The award is presented at the Annual Conference.Eligibility
