Overview: An award recognizing physicians who exemplify both medical competence and compassion in their practice and mentorship.

Award Philosophy: The LSLF Foundation believes that competent care is comprised of two parts: competence and compassion.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated medical expertise in oncology, hematology, or related fields

  • Knowledge of blood-related diseases and treatment options

  • Development of novel, targeted treatments with reduced toxicity

  • Exceptional patient relationships and bedside manner

  • Mentorship ability to transmit both competence and compassion to trainees

  • 2018: Dr. Martin S. Tallman, Chief of Leukemia Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
