Thomas J Nelson Sr Scholarship Grant

The Thomas J Nelson Sr Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of North Central Washington, honors the legacy of Tom Nelson, a dedicated community member. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors or past graduates from Chelan, Douglas, or Okanogan counties, who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue higher education. Eligible students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 for four-year programs or 2.5 for community colleges and trade schools, reflecting Tom's commitment to educational support.

Thomas J Nelson Sr, a long-time Wenatchee resident, worked in finance for Cashmere Valley Bank and Leonard Evans Auto and owned and managed Nelson Apartments. Tom was also an officer and director for RE Nelson Co, Roy Nelson Farms, and the Roy and Leona Nelson Foundation. The Foundation has awarded hundreds of college scholarships to Eastern Washington and North Idaho students and grants to local charities.
To honor Tom's service to the Nelson Foundation over the last 20 years, this scholarship was established in his memory.

Eligibility

Eligibility:

• Graduating senior or previous graduate of a Chelan, Douglas, or Okanogan county high school
• Demonstrates financial need
• Must be planning to be a full-time student at either a 4-year university, community college, or trade program
• Students attending a 4-year program must have a minimum 3.0 GPA; students attending community college or trade school must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
