The Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation (with a United States mailing address) Grant

The Thomases Family Endowment, established by Irwin Thomases, aims to uphold his philanthropic values by supporting organizations serving the Jewish and secular communities. Eligible applicants must focus on the Akko & Matte Asher regions or the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys. They can apply for multi-year grants of up to $50,000 annually, but those receiving direct allocations from the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation are ineligible. This endowment continues to promote a spirit of tzedakah.

During his lifetime, Irwin Thomases was generous to both the Jewish and secular communities. He created this endowment so that upon his death his philanthropic values, including ensuring a Jewish presence in the general community, would live on. The Endowment seeks to promote a spirit of tzedakah.

Eligibility

Organizations are only eligible to apply if they directly serve:Our Partnership Region of Akko & Matte Asher. Proposals, both narrative and budget, must be specific to the work being done in our region.
OR: The Mahoning and Shenango Valleys, or have a direct tie to this area.Organizations may submit multiple applications within the same cycleMulti-year requests are considered but can span no longer than five years and can ask for no more than $50,000/year. Multi-year commitments are usually reserved for capital projects.Organizations must wait at least 12 months from any successful grant cycle to submit another request

Ineligibility

Organizations that currently receive a direct allocation from the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation and/or funding from the Social Venture Fund of the Jewish Funders Network are not eligible to apply
