Note: Application opens for 3-4 weeks every February, June, October The Sunflower Grant The Sunflower Grant is specifically designed to ensure our support of smaller, hyper-local, grassroots organizations here in Oregon. Our typical Sunflower Award is $4,000-$7,000 per year, though grants can range from $1,000 to $10,000 While the Sunflower grant is our least competitive program and we strive to support all eligible, healthy, and mission-aligned applicants whenever possible, a rise in applications in 2025 has made funding more competitive than previous yearsOrganizations must have operating expenses of around $250,000 or less from the most recently completed fiscal year in order to pursue a Sunflower GrantAwards terms can be up to three (3) years, though one (1) is our most common term at this timeUnfortunately, fiscally sponsored organizations are not currently eligible to apply for a Sunflower Grant. The Sunflower Grant is a standalone program with its own dedicated application, separate from our other grant programs. The application is designed to be relatively quick and straightforward, and we aim to issue funding decisions within 10 weeks of the application period closing.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Though we value our Washington State partners, the Sunflower Grant is only available to Oregon applicants at this time. Furthermore, applicants must be an independent 501(c)(3) to apply. Organizations who are fiscally sponsored, or those operating under the purview of a larger public charity, are not eligible to pursue a Sunflower Grant.The Sunflower grant program focuses on supporting Oregon partners who are headquartered in and work exclusively with Oregon communities.This ensures that local resources are directed to addressing the specific needs and priorities of our home state.Eligible applicants must have financial statements that capture a full and complete fiscal year. A Statement of Activities (Profit and Loss) for your last completed fiscal year is required at the time of application.Applicants must affirm their commitment to non-discrimination and agree to our terms of funding; these terms can be reviewed here.This grant is designed for general operating support only.

Ineligibility

It is not intended to support capital campaigns, specific programs, or special initiatives. Organizations who act as conveners, networks, research agencies, or support pass-through funding are not eligible to pursue a Sunflower Grant.Unfortunately, fiscally sponsored organizations are not currently eligible to apply for a Sunflower Grant
