Overview

Note: Grants are awarded bi-annually, in March/April and November. If you don’t hear back immediately, your application will be included in the next cycle. About Us The Pincus Fund for Hunger Relief was founded by Irwin Nat Pincus in 1983 with the express goal of alleviating hunger in the Philadelphia region. Originally called The Rabbis’ Fund, the name was later changed to reflect the way in which the Fund stewards support from the Pincus Family Foundation to assist local organizations with food purchasing. Grants Looking for a grant to support hunger relief? Grants are awarded bi-annually, in March/April and November. All grants are in the amount of $1,000 unless otherwise specified. Historically, the Pincus Fund for Hunger Relief (PFFHR) has funded small food pantries, meal programs, and holiday food distributions in under-resourced neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. PFFHR recently expanded grantmaking and added two urban farms to the list of grantees. We recognize the vital role these spaces play in fighting food insecurity by growing food locally. Funds may be used to purchase food or support measures that get food in the hands of those who need it. This may include the purchasing of storage, refrigeration, transportation, etc.
