Houston Methodist Community Benefits At Houston Methodist, caring for our community means more than providing quality health care at our seven hospitals — it means supporting individuals and organizations that touch the lives of those who make up our community. Based on our I CARE values, our programs provide financial and medical assistance to more than 150,000 patients every year. In addition, this support also helps foster confidence, peace of mind and compassion to those individuals who are rebuilding their lives. Investing in Our Community The Community Benefits Grant Program focuses on increasing health care access to primary care and mental health care services for uninsured and underinsured individuals through financial support to free clinics, federally qualified health centers and other nonprofit agencies. The grant program has helped 83 unique Houston-area charities with nearly $185 million since its inception more than 30 years ago. Mental Health Innovation Grant One in five people in the United States are estimated to experience mental illness every year. Due to the growing need for mental health services, Houston Methodist offers the Mental Health Innovation Grant to local nonprofits working to reduce barriers to accessing mental health care services for indigent members of the Greater Houston community.
