The Greater Mount Hope Community Fund Grant

The Greater Mount Hope Community Fund, initiated in 2007 by dedicated citizens, aims to revitalize the historic Mt. Hope area through community-driven programs and fundraising. Managed by the Beckley Area Foundation, this endowment supports local initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents. With a commitment to sustainable giving, the fund has engaged in various successful activities, including selling local calendars and organizing fundraising campaigns, ensuring a lasting impact on the community.

It began with a gift of $1.1 million from the Dr. BAF assets have grown to over $70 million with over 500 different funds managed by our three trustee banks.
Since its inception, BAF has distributed over $23 million to charities and other worthy projects in the fields of education, public recreation, health & human services, the arts, animal services and beautification.
The Greater Mount Hope Community Fund was started by a group of active citizens who formally organized the Greater Mount Hope Community Fund, Inc. in May, 2007.Frances Carter Birdsong and Sandra McIntrye acted as representatives for establishing this endowment. These citizens are committed to the revitalization of the historic Mt. Hope area and have launched successful programs and fund raising efforts to achieve this goal. The group has designed, printed and sold calendars depicting local sights, and conducted direct mail campaigns to raise funds for this permanently endowed donor advised fund.

Eligibility

The Foundation considers grant requests from organizations which are:
Designated as a non-profit under Section 501-c-3 of the Internal Revenue Code or is a public institution, school or municipality. An IRS determination letter verifies 501-c-3 status and is required to apply for a BAF grant.
Distributions will be used to maintain and improve the quality of life for the citizens of the city of Mount Hope in Fayette County, WV.
