The mission of AFP Golden Gate is to promote philanthropy and support the effective and ethical work of the diverse community of Bay Area fundraising professionals. Who Is AFP Golden Gate? Founded in 1971, AFP Golden Gate has approximately 500 active members. Members are Bay Area professionals, including development and communications leaders, executive directors, associates, managers, consultants, coaches, and board members. This is a friendly and inclusive chapter inspiring a high level of volunteer participation. 20% of members actively serve as board members, committee members and mentors. AFP Golden Gate has a strong commitment to IDEA (Inclusion-Diversity-Equity-Access) as an ongoing proactive practice in governance, committee work, programs, opportunities and member participation. The Chamberlain Scholarship The Chamberlain Scholarship is awarded to allow a member who has not yet attended an AFP International Conference to do so. AFP Global covers the Chamberlain Scholar’s conference registration fees, and AFP Golden Gate reimburses lodging and airfare costs. The Chamberlain Scholarship application process is typically announced in late summer, with an application deadline by mid-October. The chapter Membership Committee selects the recipient. The conference is typically held in March or April.
