The Caroline Thorn Kissel Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship Grant

The Caroline Thorn Kissel Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship, established in 2003, supports environmental studies for New Jersey residents and nonresidents studying in the state. Funded by Frances Starr Todd in honor of her great grandmother, it provides $3000 annually to a scholar for summer environmental study. This scholarship encourages students from various educational backgrounds to explore environmental topics in New Jersey's unique ecosystems.

Purpose
To promote environmental studies by students who are residents of New Jersey or nonresidents studying in New Jersey or its surrounding waters.
In 2003, Frances Starr Todd determined that a fitting tribute to her great grandmother, Caroline Thorn Kissel, would be a GCA scholarship dedicated to environmental study relating to Mrs. Todd’s wish that the scholarship be named for her great grandmother. The funding was provided by Mrs.
Provisions
Provides $3000 in financial assistance to one scholar annually for summer environmental study selected by the applicant.

Eligibility

Open to current and actively enrolled college students, graduate students, Ph.D. candidates, non-degree-seeking students, or those actively enrolled in continuing education programs at a US-based institution.Applicants must be either:residents of New Jersey studying in New Jersey or elsewhere, ornonresidents of New Jersey pursuing study, or conducting research in the state or in New Jersey's adjacent waters.

Ineligibility

Due to IRS restrictions, GCA is unable to fund awards for international applicants.
