Overview:
Since 1925, The American Legion's Temporary Financial Assistance program has provided cash grants to support minor children of active duty service members and American Legion members in times of need.

Eligibility:

  • Minor children of active duty service members

  • Minor children of American Legion members

  • Families facing financial hardship
  • Focus: Direct financial assistance for rent, food, and other essential needs

    Background: The program has been active for over 100 years and gained additional prominence during the federal government shutdown when it helped more than 3,120 children whose active-duty families were affected.
